Cougars hang on for a win in CR!

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

The mighty Cougars ventured up to Campbell River on the 16th of July, 2022 to play Campbell River. The weather report was not great to both teams decided to reduce the game to 30 overs in order to beat the rain.

The cougars started out a man down with our skip left stranded in Calgary. Dukey took the reigns and won the toss and put us in to bat. Great bowling and a suspect wicket contributed to early wickets with Noel, Dukey, and Cole out for little in return. Jon Cox looked like he was in solid mid season form for a few overs before returning to the pavilion. The wickets continued to fall but the Metchosin tail had a wag. Yuri batted magnificently, putting up 35 runs with the support of Izak, Ben, and Harsh. The team finished with 120 runs on the board, thanks to 26 wides.

The cougars took to the field knowing that tight bowling and fielding would give them a good shot of winning. Izak and T looked dominant and claimed 4 early wickets with a fifth coming from a run out. Ben and Amit were first change and continued to keep the runs down with Amit taking two big wickets. Noel, Izak, and T cleaned up the tail but not without a few tense moments. Campbell River were eventually bowled out for 108 runs, and their search for a win this season continues.

The Cougars return on Saturday for a massive game against Albion at Beacon Hill Park.

CR provided a wonderful post match pizza dinner!
